The neighbourhood of Empire Park is located in south west Edmonton. In the west end of the neighbourhood is located Southgate Centre, a major shopping centre. The majority of homes in Empire Park were built in the 1960s and 1970s, according to the 2001 federal census, when a total of 75% of homes were built. Apartments are the most common type of home in Empire Park, according to the 2005 municipal census, with 34% comprised of high-rise apartments and 38% comprised of low-rise apartments.
