The neighbourhood of Queen Alexandra is found in south west Edmonton. The neighbourhood is named after Alexandra, wife of Edward VII of England, and used to be part of the City of Strathcona. 15.6% of neighbourhood homes were built before 1946, and 20.8% were built between 1946 and 1960. Another 19.7% were constructed during the 1960s, 31.9% were built during the 1970s, and 12.1% were built after 1980. Rented apartments are the most common type of home in Queen Alexandra, according to the 2005 municipal census, and make up 51% of homes in the neighbourhood. Single-family homes make up 31%, 7% are duplexes, and 3% are collective residences. A total of 80% of Queen Alexandra homes are owner-occupied.
